Figural analogies test how well you spot the transformation between two shapes and apply it to a third. Work out how the first figure becomes the second, then apply the same change to the third to find the answer.

This measures non-verbal reasoning and transformation mapping: working out how the first pair of figures relates, then applying the same change to a new figure. It is analogy thinking in pure visual form.
Work out how the first figure becomes the second, whether a fixed rotation, a fill change or a change in count, then apply that exact change to the third figure.
The common wrong answers are the third figure left unchanged, or the second figure repeated. Hold the single transformation in mind and apply only that.
