Low-pressure compressor
The low-pressure compressor, also called a booster in this model, raises the pressure of core air before it reaches the high-pressure compressor.

- In the core flow behind the fan and ahead of the high-pressure compressor.
- What it does
- It begins the staged compression of the core stream.
- Relationship
- It shares the low-pressure spool with the fan and low-pressure turbine.
- Common confusion
- It does not compress the bypass stream. Bypass air leaves the core path after the fan.
