Analogies test how well you spot the relationship between a pair of words and apply it to another. Work out how the first two words relate, then choose the word that completes the second pair in the same way.

This measures verbal reasoning and relationship mapping: identifying how two words relate, then finding a pair with the same relationship. It tests both vocabulary and the logic that connects ideas.
Put the first pair in a short sentence, such as a glove protects a hand, then apply the same sentence to the third word. The option that completes it the same way is the answer.
Distractors are often related to the words but in the wrong way. Hold the exact relationship in mind and discard anything that does not match it, even when it shares the theme.
